Imagine that you are a futurist (Yu Hin, Ezekiel)

1. What does it mean for the future of entertainment if 80% of the consumers are on the internet downloading games, video, music and information?

- What will your lifestyle be like?
We would not need to get books anymore. We will only need an electronic device to do homework, play games, etc.

- What will your work and social environment be like?
Most people will probably work at home, people will most likely meet each other online, schools will also be conducted online, Etc.

- What kind of jobs will you be doing?
Most likely developing different forms of online entertainment, doing ICT jobs. There will also be a small group of people actually farming for food, doing trading, etc.

2. What does it mean for the future of health care if 90% of the consumers want tests to reveal their genetic destiny.

- What will your lifestyle be like?
People will take precautions when doing things so that they do not harm themselves in any way. People will also be able to prepare for any diseases that they may come across in the future.

- What will your work and social environment be like?
People will most likely hangout with people who have similar genetics to them as they would know what to avoid when planning activities. Most people will probably not try new things in fear of bad things happening to them. The average lifespan of the people will probably increase significantly.

What kind of jobs will you be doing?
We will probably be doing jobs related to healthcare for example working in a hospital or be one of the people who help people find their genetic destiny.

Anshiqa/Johanna/Misu/Jian Qing (CE- Futurist)

Q3) How will online sales be hurt in future if identity theft continues and better security doesn’t
     emerge?
  • I believe that online sales will greatly decrease. Just like, how in real life, when items are stolen and not purchased, the sales go down, this would occur in the virtual world too.
  • As the items online would be stolen, resulting in no payment for the item, the seller would have lesser stock but not a higher revenue. Sellers, will not be able to gain more profit and improve the online site, or the quality of items and thus, it would be inconvenient for the rest of. The quality of our lifestyle will degrade.
  • Work life will be more difficult without better online facilities. We will be working in jobs where things become inefficient and inconvenient, just because some hare-brained people decided to steal online.

Q6) What does it mean to global peace security if terrorists, drug dealers and organised crime link up to attack the world’s institution?

  • Safety of the people will be affected. People will live in constant fear that the terrorists, drug dealers and organised crimes will target them, which will affect their social life. In order to stay safe, the people will stay at home where they will be safer, and this will affect their work and social interaction as they will try to stay home as much as possible.
  • People will interact with others less often due to fear of being targeted by terrorists, drug dealers and organised crime, and mistrust among people will build up. Work will be affected as people will feel threatened when they are at their workplace, and start to mistrust their colleagues.
  • More people will be doing their jobs from their houses in order to stay safe and earn money at the same time. Some people will be law enforcers in order to help reduce the severity of the issue.

Q9) Future of society if global warming and climate change are not resolved by 2050 when there are 9 billion people on the planet
  • I believe that our lifestyle would be rather horrible as sea levels are expected to rise between 7 and 23 inches and continued melting at the poles could add between 4 and 8 inches (10 to 20 centimeters). Hurricanes and other storms are also  likely to become stronger and floods would be more common. This will decrease our quality of life.
  • Our work environment would be rather chaotic (with all the natural disasters happening); if we were to work with foreign clients, our business would also be affected; impacting our work force greatly.
  • People would become less interactive with each other/outdoor environment (because of horrible weather conditions) and they may be more hostile towards each other.
  • The kind of jobs we would be doing comprises of meteorologists and environmentalists.

Q4) What does it mean for industry and society if one hundred million people want to live to the age of 100 and be as healthy and active as they can be?

  • People will greatly suffer as there is a significant decrease in the birth rate and death rate.
  • The huge burdens will be on the youths as they are the ones who are responsible to support the whole community.
  • Firstly, elders are generally weaker and slower than the youths. So they will take a longer time to complete something or to catch up with a new trend thus it is inevitable to reform the the working place.

fantastic futuristic fivesome aka (Taufiq, Ashiq, Beverly, Nehal, Veena)

1.

ans: Spend more time online and less time in the real world. There will be less communication face to face as technology integrates more into our real world lives like a boss.  More technology related nd media related jobs will be needed but as of now the demand is also being met as many furutre looking people are filling up this growing category of jobs.

4.

ans: Majority of people will be elderly. We will need to be as healthy and active as we can be so that we serve a purpose in society. More people will spend their young ages preparing for old age as it becomes a bigger responsibilty to prepare for. Our work environment will be slow and very compensating for all our limitations.

5.

ans: It will be an unfair life as your work will not determine the quality of your life. Your work life will not be of good quality as it is highly dependant on favouratism. Any jobs.

6.

ans: Our lifestyle will be in constant fear and danger as terrorists grow bolder and more effective.  Our work and social life will be effected by the fear of an attack or the fear of the effects of an attack. More security jobs is needed. White hat jobs.

Imagine you are a futurist (Ho Jia Wei, Karthikeyan, Chee Jer En)

4. What does it mean for industry and scociety if one hundred million people want to live the age of 100 and be as healthy and active as they can be. There would be too many people who require work so the workforce would be filled with these old people and the young do not have a chance to find jobs as they lack experience. There would be a lack of housing/facilities due to overcrowding as there is too many people. 9. What is the future of society if global warming and climate change are not resolved by 2050 when there will be 9 billion people on the planet? I would use much more new technology which requires more energy. There will be an inflation in the price for everything, eg. food, petrol, electricity. The air would be polluted with CO2 and haze, the sea will be polluted with waste and the ground would be full of litter. More icebergs would melt and the sea level will increase, there will be more natural disasters and more people would be affected by the hole in the ozone layer. I would find it harder to find work because of the huge population. The climate would make it dangerous to go out so socialisation has decreased. I would be doing jobs to help slow the rate of global warming. There would be more jobs like mine because that would be the main priority during that period. 3 . How will online sales be hurt in future if identity theft continues and better security doesn’t emerge ? Many people would be scared to buy and order things online if identity theft and lack of good security is prevalent so , the online sales platforms won’t be able to get much sales and hence might end up making losses . This will make many online sales platforms to be closed and and hence people will not be able to buy things from worldwide stores . 1. What does it mean for the future of entertainment if 80% of consumers are on the Internet downloading games , video , music and information ? Entertainment will be mainly in technological platforms such as online platforms such as youtubes , computer games , google and many more and hence entertainment will no longer be in reality such as music concerts , books and many more . 5.What does it mean to China if that country continues to grow without becoming a democracy? There would be riots in China as people want democracy. This is due to the Western influence of countries like USA giving the Chinese the opinion that it is their right to have democracy to chose their leader. These will lead to revolutionists that want to change their system of government, they will organise riots and the government might be overthrowed.

Imagine that you are a futurist(Sean, Wen Yu, Grace)

Q1:
ANS: The entertainment industry would be in huge trouble, as they would not be able to make a lot of money with people downloading their entertainment content illegally. only produce cyber products. Companies who produce outdoor equipment would go out of business.

Q6.
ANS:  The global peace security would be greatly threatened and perhaps even overwhelmed. This means that we must not be active in stopping lowly thefts and other minor crimes while stopping organized ones on a macroscopic level.

Q7.
ANS: People will continue to suffer from AIDS and the number of victims will continuously increase, the world population will also decrease by a lot, and the world would probably plummet into severe depression.

Q8.
ANS: We would have to rely on renewable energy from resources such as solar power, windmills, and so on. The energy usage around the world will deplete drastically, sooner or later, the Earth would not be able to support all of life anymore.

Q9.
ANS: The atmosphere would be so toxic with carbon emissions that we would need masks and air purifiers just to step outside. Perhaps we may even need to introduce artificial bio-domes in order to create a clean environment for the human race to grow. Therefore, the Earth would not be able to support the larger population and poorer populations will start to dwindle, losing so much culture along the way.

Imagine that you are a futurist

Group: Kenneth, Koh Jin Wei, Joseph, Nimalan

1. If more entertainment was does online, a lot of information will be recorded online, which means that it is very easy to track one's data record.

2. Lots of money will be invested in the gene/genetic technology industry.

3. - There will be more hackers as programming becomes common knowledge.
    - There will be no safety online, which leads to distrust of the web.

4. Society will be paranoid and selfish. In terms of industry, no one would want to work in factories as no one wants to breathe in the toxic fumes.

7. Africa will be left to deal with its own medical problems and the whole country will be in a pandemic crisis.

8. The world will fall into darkness, and life on earth (humans) would not be the same as we know it. A lot of people will die if they can't adapt.
